When a person has amnesia, their real personality and life is lost in a fog. All secrets and answers are locked deep inside the head. You have no idea what you will discover when you open the box. It is pandora's box. Some people think it should be opened immediately while others believe it should happen naturally over time. In my second book SURVEILLANCE: the Josephine Chronicles, Lexi is allowing Josephine the space she needs to process and remember naturally.
Josephine remembers one person, her daughter Angel. She doesn't remember Lexi. She can't remember her parents or where she grew up. When waking up in the hospital bed next to Angel, her mind is a blank slate. She has no memories of Angel either, but she knows Angel is her daughter. She sees Lexi in the hospital room but has no idea who she is.
Having no memory is scary. The doctor explains that Josephine has suffered blunt trauma to the head and they keep her in the hospital until they're sure there is no brain damage. Lexi takes Angel and Josephine to their home. Josephine remembers nothing along the way. Angel is delighted to have a new and beautiful home. Both have been imprisoned at Steven Roberts communal compound until a few months earlier. Lexi has warned Angel not to tell Josephine the details but allow her to remember on her own. Doctors orders.
Josephine is 32 years old, but mentally she's starting over, relearning everything from the beginning. In an odd sense, Angel has no memories either. She's never met her grandparents who have passed on. Josephine is completely alone other than Lexi and Angel. But there is a protective mental gate holding back the flood. Eventually it will burst and when it does, all hell will break loose.
