Ian Fleming was a top notch writer of thriller conspiracy fantasy novels. In retrospect, there was a lot of truth mixed in with the fiction. Today there are multiple spine tingling stories that are so fantastical, but are they?
What kind of bad guys are we up against?
I'm trying to figure out how to use the ice cube neutrino detectors as passive listening divices or transmitters in my thrillers. Digital Optical Modules (DOM) about the size of basketballs embedded in the ice in a 1 km square act as a telescope or a directed energy system. They've been around for quite some time. It sounds exactly like something Goldfinger, Dr No or Spectre would have on their property or in their lair.
Maybe I should have a Research Observatory as a secondary means of communication that shoots green lasers out into the cosmos. And when the time comes, the bad guys die in a tank of super fluids from chilled helium, below -4 k. That's really cold!
Whatever the case, I have to research the truth to craft my fiction and sometimes it gives me pause.
Well, you don't want to be a bad guy in my books.
