III. Investigation Begins

A. The detective starts questioning the family members.

Detective Sullivan gathers the family members in the grand drawing room, where the air is heavy with tension. With a calm and authoritative demeanor, he begins his questioning. Each family member is asked to provide their whereabouts during the time of the crime and any relevant information they may have. The room is filled with a mix of anxiety, suspicion, and a desperate desire to find the truth.

B. Each family member's alibi is presented, along with potential motives.

As the questioning progresses, alibis are presented, and potential motives are explored. Olivia, the eldest daughter, provides a detailed account of her evening spent at a charity event, supported by witnesses and a solid alibi. William, the artist, claims to have been in his studio, working on a new painting, with no one to corroborate his story. Emily, the youngest daughter, insists she was exploring the estate grounds alone, with no one to vouch for her whereabouts. Victoria, the grieving widow, claims to have been in her private study, immersed in her grief and unaware of the events unfolding in the rest of the house.

As the detective delves deeper into their lives, secrets and tensions within the family begin to surface. Financial disputes, hidden resentments, and long-held grudges come to light, painting a complex picture of the family dynamics and providing potential motives for the crime.

C. The detective explores the estate, looking for clues.

With the family members' alibis and motives in mind, Detective Sullivan embarks on a thorough search of Hawthorne Manor. He meticulously examines each room, searching for any clues that may shed light on the identity of the perpetrator. He scrutinizes the study, the bedrooms, the art studio, and even the hidden corners of the estate. Every nook and cranny is inspected, every object scrutinized for any sign of evidence.

As he explores the estate, the detective uncovers a series of cryptic messages, hidden compartments, and peculiar objects that hint at a deeper mystery. The once-familiar halls of Hawthorne Manor become a labyrinth of secrets, each clue leading the detective closer to the truth.

As Act III unfolds, the investigation intensifies, and the detective's pursuit of justice becomes more determined. The family members, each with their own secrets and potential motives, find themselves under the scrutiny of Detective Sullivan. The sprawling estate holds the key to unraveling the mystery, and the detective's relentless search for clues brings him closer to uncovering the truth behind Alexander Hawthorne's tragic demise.
